Teeth whitening for children is usually performed once all of the adult teeth have erupted and any orthodontic treatment is completed. One of the most common reasons that teens need teeth whitening is because braces have caused their teeth to become discolored. Poor dental hygiene, drinking beverages that cause stains, and certain medications are other reasons for yellowing and staining in children’s teeth.

We offer a gentle, effective in-office whitening treatment that offers noticeable results in a single treatment. Unlike over-the-counter whitening products, our in-office treatments have little risk for sensitivity, enamel damage, and soft tissue irritation because we take all of the necessary safety precautions to protect your child’s teeth and gums.

Teeth Whitening Process

In-office teeth whitening is completed in one visit to our office. We use a rubber shield or protective gel to prevent irritation and damage to the gums and soft tissue, then we apply a carbamide peroxide bleaching agent directly to your child’s teeth. A specialized light is then used to enhance the action of the whitening agent, resulting in a brighter smile.

After whitening is complete, some tooth sensitivity is possible, but this resolves with time. As long as your child doesn’t return to the behaviors that caused their stains, practices good oral hygiene, and keeps up with their twice-a-year dental checkups, the results of their teeth whitening treatments can last up to three years.

Frequently Asked Questions About Teeth Whitening

Oral Conscious Sedation

We are pleased to be able to provide our patients at Dental Buddies of Vero Beach with oral conscious sedation dentistry. This type of sedation uses oral medication (sedative and analgesics) to help patients relax during dental procedures.

Our goal is to provide services to assist patients who may have anxiety and or stress during a dental procedure or treatment. Oral sedation is one of the available methods of conscious sedation dentistry that we offer at Dental Buddies. In addition, nitrous oxide or laughing gas is available as well.

Benefits of oral conscious sedation include reduced awareness of unpleasant sights, sounds and sensations associated with the procedure along with reduced anxiety. Some patients fall asleep, but not always.

For additional information, or if you would like to schedule an oral conscious sedation consultation to see if it might be a good option for your child, please call our office at 772-226-6888.
